The Big Bend - Vernon Lions Club was chartered on June 29, 1955 with 31 members.

Club membership is open to men and women.
There are 1.3 million Lion members internationally.

Since its charter, the Big Bend - Vernon Lions Club has donated over $400,000 back to the community.
These donations go to both individuals and to community groups.
Major community service projects include the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, Big Bend Youth Halloween Party,
Easter Egg Hunt, and BOLD (Blind Outdoor Leisure Development) canoe outing.

The club also supports the Wisconsin Lions Camp near Rosholt, Wisconsin.
The camp was established in 1957 and annually serves over 4,000 sight and hearing impaired children and adults,
cognitively disabled children, and groups who work with the disabled. This year-round 440-acre camp
